About

As a Christian counselor, I will pray for you and with you to encourage you to become the person God has created you to be. My aim is for you to leave each session having taken positive steps in your healing process. While it’s one thing to talk about approaches to life’s issues, it’s quite another to actually do the work and be accountable for it week in and week out. My hope is that our work together will be a catalyst the Lord uses to bring about marked transformation in your life. Using a combination of proven therapeutic approaches from a faith-based perspective, I will work side-by-side with you until your challenges are resolved.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

Christian counseling sessions always include at least three participants: the counselor, the client(s), and the Holy Spirit. The goal is to be able to hear the Lord clearly. My job is to walk with you through that process as we work through biblical solutions to the issues you’re facing. Ultimately, my goal is for you to be fully in touch with the Wonderful Counselor who is available 24/7 as you navigate through future issues moving forward in your walk with the Lord.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

In our sessions you can expect to be treated with respect, compassion, and the love of God. I offer my expertise as a pastor and therapist with over 35 years of ministry and counseling experience, serving individuals ranging from youth to seniors. My combined pastoral role and counseling degree allow me to better come alongside clients to empathetically work through spiritual solutions without just giving textbook biblical answers. I will partner with you to find the healing and growth you desire, with God’s help.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

I strongly believe in and have experienced God’s answers to life’s problems and challenges. With over 30 years of Scriptural and psychological training and experience, I have walked alongside hundreds of clients from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Often, barriers can make it difficult to clearly hear God’s voice. My role is to help you explore the issues you are facing and discover what God may be saying. Jesus understands our weaknesses and offers wisdom and guidance we cannot find anywhere else. Let’s discover His answers together.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from San Jose State University, a Master of Science in Counseling from Cal State University East Bay, and a Master of Ministry Equivalent from Simpson University. I am also an Ordained Reverend in The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
I have counselled people for over 40 years in various roles, including as a youth leader, Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, and Pastoral Counselor.

Anger Management

If you struggle to manage your anger, I would be happy to help. Together we will discuss when and why you feel your anger coming on, and the effects of those emotions. We can discuss past events in your life when anger played a role, and talk about the escalation and de-escalation scale as it relates to anger. I will help you learn how to use effective tools to de-escalate your anger so you can better manage your emotions when you start to feel angry.

Couples Counseling

If you and your partner are having challenges in your relationship, I would be happy to help. I will listen to your story to learn the reasons you have pursued counseling and the issues you are concerned with. I will talk with you and your partner together and also spend one session with each of you by yourselves in order to hear both stories individually. In our sessions together we will seek to identify the core problems and build upon solutions. Depending on your preferences, we may also use Scripture throughout treatment to help strengthen your relationship.

Individual Counseling

With over 40 years of pastoral counseling experience, I have helped individuals work through a wide range of issues and concerns. No matter what you may be going through, it’s not beyond the scope of what God is able to heal and restore. My aim is to restore hope to those who are feeling worn down, disillusioned, distraught, and defeated. Using proven therapeutic techniques paired with an approach based on God’s Word, I will gladly walk alongside you to help you realize and become the person God created you to be.

Infidelity and Affairs

Infidelity is a painful experience that can result in many mixed emotions from each person affected. If you and your spouse need support and guidance navigating the aftermath of an affair, I have experience helping numerous couples work through the process of healing, forgiving, rebuilding trust, and strengthening the marriage relationship. God is in the restoration business and He delights in making broken things whole and new.

Coaching

Every area in life in which we desire to become more proficient requires hard work and training. Unfortunately, we often choose to pursue this training without someone we trust with experience to come alongside us through the process. Our walk with the Lord is no different. I will be there with you each step of the way, encouraging you in your pursuit of answers and growth as you progress in your faith and life journey.

Payment and Forms

Sessions: I offer 53-minute sessions. Sessions can be held more than once per week, weekly, or every other week. Scheduling options are discussed in greater detail during your Risk-Free Initial Session.

Availability (by office location):

  • McKinney Downtown – Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • McKinney West – Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Online Counseling – Mondays and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

Fees: I offer a Risk-Free Initial Session for individuals and couples looking to pursue counseling with me. Please note that there is a fee for the Risk-Free Initial Session as it is a clinical hour and reimbursable to most insurance companies, but if you choose not to reschedule and continue therapy after the initial session, the entire fee for the session will be waived. For ongoing treatment, the full fee per session is required at the time of service.

Insurance: As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), most insurance companies will reimburse for a portion of my services (as an Out-of-Network Provider). Please consult with your insurance provider as to whether they specifically cover adolescents, individuals, and couples.

Receipts/Statements: In the event you require a printed or digital receipt, I will provide receipts for personal use, insurance reimbursement, Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).

Payment options: Cash, Check, or Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, & American Express). A fee of up to 4% per transaction may be added for credit card payments.
