About

Life is hard and it can be difficult to find peace in a world plagued with sin and suffering. In therapy, we will utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you develop and master healthy ways of coping with life’s greatest struggles. I will provide a safe and welcoming environment where you can share openly without fear of judgment.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as your counselor is that you will begin to see yourself through the same lens in which the Lord sees you. I will assist you in developing a newfound confidence, identifying and resolving deep-rooted issues, and utilizing clinical tools to help you cope when challenges arise. It is my goal that you will leave therapy more grounded in your faith and confident in your ability to overcome hardship.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

In therapy, we will rely on the Holy Spirit for wisdom, guidance, and comfort while developing coping skills and adjusting negative thought processes impacting your overall mental and emotional health.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

With a faith-based approach to counseling, we will work to address not only mental and emotional health, but also spiritual health. Our relationship with our Savior is the most critical component to living out the purpose that He has for us. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” It is my desire for you to become the best version of yourself, break free from the shackles holding you captive, and trust in His promises for your life.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. I have been fully licensed as a counselor in Texas for more than eight years.

My Call to Christian Counseling

As an adolescent, I was always the person my friends came to when they needed support. I was often told that I should pursue a career in counseling. However, it wasn’t until I was in a severe car accident in 2010 that the Lord made clear His plans for me. During my hospital stay, a counselor came by daily to check on me. With her support, I was able to overcome the trauma I endured and start on a healthy path toward recovery. It became my passion to do for others what that counselor did for me during my time of need.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

I have been happily married to my husband for 13 years and together we share three boys. As a family we love to travel, ski, fish, and watch our boys play baseball. I love serving my church and connecting with other women and mothers in need. I also enjoy painting, DIY projects, and cooking.

Counseling for Teens

In a world dominated by cell phones and social media, adolescents are struggling more today than ever before. It is my true passion to work with teenagers and help them find their value and worth in the Lord instead of the world. We will work together to identify life goals and create a plan for achieving those goals while overcoming mental and emotional difficulties.

Spiritual Development

Spiritual health is the one true thermometer for mental and emotional health. A healthy relationship with our Creator determines our ability to manage all of the difficult seasons of life. In counseling, I will assist you in identifying the voice of the Holy Spirit in your life and learning to rely on the Lord.

Anxiety

The Bible mentions fear and anxiety 365 times, showing us that anxiety has been a battle for believers since the beginning of time. We will address anxiety together by identifying triggers, learning how God wants us to respond to anxious thoughts and emotions, and adjusting our thought processes to reduce anxiety.

Anger Management

Anger is considered a secondary emotion, meaning that we tend to express anger when we are feeling hurt or sad because anger does not require vulnerability. In counseling, I will assist you with managing anger by identifying triggers and the real emotions hiding underneath the anger. I will also help you understand the importance of being vulnerable for healthy relationships.

Relationship Issues

In a world filled with stress, finances, raising children, careers, and responsibilities, it is not surprising that relationship issues are on the rise. The Bible says that the second greatest commandment is to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). This means that we are called to love one another unconditionally. In counseling, we will explore the meaning of unconditional love as well as identifying coping skills, communication skills, and the importance of vulnerability in healthy relationships.
